From April 19-25

Description

Dates: April 19-25

Description:A specialized tour of the coffee region will be organized, visiting Buga, Riofrío, Armenia, Pereira, and Manizales, to learn about relevant projects, plantations, and experiences in the sector.

Starting point: La Tertulia Museum – Cali

Directed by: Architect Andrés Bäppler, Eng. Yeraldine Rolong

Capacity: 20 – 40 people

This academic, cultural and territorial journey focuses on Colombian guadua bamboo as a crucial resource for sustainable construction and the bioeconomy, recognized for its outstanding structural properties and its potential in architectural solutions.

Through an itinerary developed in the Cauca Valley and the Coffee Region, the experience proposes the exploration of responsibly managed bamboo groves, emblematic architectural works and leading institutions that work throughout the entire value chain of bamboo: from its cultivation, management and transformation, to its certification and projection towards international markets.

More than a technical visit, this experience offers applied knowledge, exchange of knowledge and strategic connections, allowing the qualities of guadua to be valued on the ground as an ideal material to respond to the global challenges of climate change, sustainable housing and the construction of the future.

Itinerary and Activities:

  1. Start in Cali: The tour will begin with a meeting point at the La Tertulia Museum, general orientation activities, and visits to representative sites such as the Hacienda Provenza, the Colegio de las Aguas in Montebello, and the traditional San Antonio neighborhood (dinner in a heritage setting).
  1. Featured Visits (7 days):
    • Cali: Visit to SENA – Construction Center (housing design projects).
    • Guadalajara de Buga: Sustainable tourism and architecture experiences, visit to the El Diamante Eco-hotel and tours through bamboo groves.
    • Rural Area: An approach to rural housing proposals in Riofrío, Salónica and Fenicia.

At the end of the tour, participants will gain technical knowledge applied directly in the field, the opportunity to directly evaluate the constructive properties of guadua in different contexts and scales, as well as international strategic connections.

This experience offers a benchmark for high-impact sustainable projects and a comprehensive vision that connects territory, knowledge, and global projection
